The Attack Surface Has Moved. Most Teams Are Still Watching the Wrong Place.

Security teams have spent years hardening their perimeters, locking down endpoints, and chasing vulnerabilities. Yet breaches keep happening, and increasingly they are landing in a place almost nobody is watching: the credentials that power AI infrastructure. As organizations race to build with AI, a single leaked API key has quietly become one of the most dangerous things an attacker can get their hands on.

This is the issue Santhosh Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Unosecur, takes on in his latest piece for the Forbes Technology Council. Drawing on recent attacks that bypassed firewalls and scanners entirely, he explains why a single credential is no longer a contained risk in the AI era. It can become leverage over an entire AI infrastructure, including the ability to influence how those systems reason and respond. From there, he makes the case for why the standard playbook of rotation, vaulting, and scanning was built for a different era, and what needs to change. It is a sharp, clear-eyed read for anyone responsible for securing AI systems.
